Hatmaker, Tennessee

Complete Area Map

The Lost Heritage of Hatmaker, Tennessee

They settled along Indian Creek at the mouth of Race Track Hollow.   From this location arose the Hatmaker Settlement.  On September 11, 1806 Campbell County was erected from Anderson and Claiborne counties and the area in which they lived became the 3rd tax district.  All in all by the 1838 tax valuation the Hatmaker Family controlled more than 2000 acres in Campbell County alone, with additional land in Anderson County.

This map shows the location of Hatmaker, Tennessee and the surrounding land owners. It is drawn from two maps, before and after the impoundment of Lake Norris.   Also, presented is information gleaned from University of Tennessee Family Surveys, Grave Removal records and accounts of long time residents of the area.
